Senior Pet Care
Medicine
Two visits a year
First visit $72, 40 minutes
Older pets hide illness well. Senior visits add bloodwork, a urine test and a blood pressure check to the exam, so kidney disease, thyroid problems, diabetes and arthritis are caught while there is still a lot we can do.
What you might notice
Sleeping more, stiff after rest, drinking and peeing more, weight loss, bad breath, confusion at night or reluctance to jump.
How we treat it
An exam every six months with weight, joints, teeth, heart and a blood pressure reading.
Senior bloodwork and urinalysis to track kidney, liver and thyroid values over time.
Arthritis and pain management, from medication to monthly injections, adjusted at every visit.
Common questions
When is my pet a senior?
Around 8 for most dogs, 6 for giant breeds and 10 for cats.
Is slowing down just old age?
Often it is arthritis, which is very treatable. Pets do not complain about pain, they just do less.
How do you handle end-of-life care?
With time and honesty. We talk about quality of life early, and when the time comes we offer a quiet room or a home visit.
What does it cost?
A senior exam is $64 and senior bloodwork with urinalysis is $165, or $58 a month on the senior plan.
This page is general information, not a diagnosis. Every pet is different. Trouble breathing, a seizure, a hard swollen belly or heavy bleeding needs an emergency hospital now.
